Shalom! The Community Havurah of Delaware is a participatory and inclusive Jewish fellowship that is interested in enriching cultural and spiritual Jewish life in Delaware and the Greater Brandywine Valley.
We are an intergenerational, supportive and inspirational group passionate about steeping our lives with Jewish values by connecting through music, learning, worship, food, and joyous practice. We welcome interfaith families and people of all ages. We embrace Israel as a part of our greater Jewish community (K'lal Yisrael). Members and rotating clergy lead our monthly Friday evening Musical Shabbat Services, Musical Havdalah, vegetarian potlucks, Torah study sessions, and holiday celebrations. We are currently raising funds to enhance our programs by inviting singer/songwriter and rabbinical student Adina Ikeman to our programs.
Origins and present day:
We were founded by an initial group of friends in 2016 and served by Rabbi Micah Becker-Klein until he accepted a position as rabbi at University Synagogue in Irvine, California in July 2024.
We are currently blessed with the leadership of Adina Yael Ikeman, a rabbinical student who is studying at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Wyncote, PA. Her music can be found on Spotify or Apple Music as Amber Ikeman. Much of our budget is utilized to support her musicality and spiritual inspiration that she weaves into a beautiful observance for our community.
